What is Consulting? The consultant has a background in the client’s business or area where the client wants business advice. The consultant may spend time on the phone and/or on the telephone and gives the client potential solutions to their problems.
What is Mentoring? The mentor gives his advice and business experience to a less experienced person, usually in the same company, and normally goes uncompensated.
What is Coaching? Coaching has been around since Socrates’ time. As a profession, it has evolved in the past 10 years into a valuable tool for change with the potential for transforming the performance of executives and managers. Coaches have training in coaching techniques, and may have training in other areas, such as emotional intelligence, team building, and so on. The coach works with the client’s agenda to help him or her achieve their goals. The coach is non-judgmental, supportive and professional. Tests may be given to the client to help him see his management style and how others see him (or her). The coach and the client meet on a regular basis on the telephone and work on issues. The client will need to commit to some new behaviors and to implement them at home and work in order to make them a part of a new pattern of behavior.
Coaching is a valuable and viable solution for organizations who wish to retain top talent, but who would like to see them attain better communication or leadership skills. Coaching can help make teams work together as never before.
Support systems are essential to high achievement, and coaching is the most efficient and modern way of supplying that support.
Coaching has been described in many ways. Our definition of coaching is as follows: Coaching is an intensive one-on-one interactive encounter where the coach, like a sports coach, helps the person being coached build capability and refine and improve his own natural skills, in this case his or her decision-making, communication, leadership and/or other skills.
Business coaches do not try to solve the client’s problems for them, but are trained to listen, observe and give feedback to the client so they can grow in decision-making capability to solve their own problems, recognize those areas which need improvement and begin to work on them in a safe, non-judgmental environment. Coaches work with clients in all areas of their lives, including personal, business and network. While the ultimate responsibility for producing results rests with the client, the coach provides support, feedback and an objective perspective on the client’s journey to developing their highest and best self.
Cutting edge ethical business coaches today do not want a “client for life,” but look forward to the day when they have worked themselves out of a job! Benefits include better decision making, setting achievable goals, taking more effective action, identifying and better employing and leveraging strengths and understanding, accepting and working on weaknesses.
People hire a coach because they need to sharpen their leadership skills, to make a career transition, re-evaluate life choices, because they have hit a wall and don’t know why, upon starting a new position, because they want to make that step to another level, professionally or personally, or just to sort out who they are and what they want! Coaching is the number one choice for change. It is not therapy or psychoanalysis. Coaches are not qualified as therapists or psychoanalysts. Some deep-seated emotional issues are better dealt with by a professional therapist. If your coach feels you can benefit more from professional therapy or psychoanalysis on a certain issue, he or she will tell you so, honestly.
How does Coaching work? Coaching may be done using email, telephone, face-to-face, or MSN (real-time e-mail). The method is agreed upon by the coach and the client. Organizational coaching can be done over the phone or in person. The client and coach will meet for a free introductory session to make sure that they have rapport and a good “fit.” A schedule will be set at that meeting for future sessions convenient to both parties. Some sessions will be scheduled for 10 minutes, some will be scheduled for 45 minutes. Timeframes may vary, but usually the coaching relationship will last from 3-6 months. Some executives may maintain the coaching relationship indefinitely, use it infrequently after the initial time period, and still attain great benefits. Many executives do not have a disinterested person with whom they can discuss issues, and a coach is an excellent resource. The coach will not usually give advice or input toward the solution of problem(s) expressed unless actually asked for it--and at the coach’s option, maybe not then! Should the Coach have experience in my field? No. Experienced, capable coaches can coach anyone in any field. It is not even necessary for the coach to have business experience, although our research survey showed that most businesses prefer that they do. Click here to see the results of our Business Survey.
How does Coaching work for Organizational issues? For gap assessments, an overview of the organizational cultural health, employee satisfaction surveys, team building or other complex undertakings, Ideal Performance Coaching will do a Scope of Work for a fee, which will give important information to the organization. If coaching or consulting is warranted and Ideal Performance performs it, the cost of the Scope of Work is deducted from that work. Our ISIS and IMAP programs will help build strategic direction, build cohesive teams and be an on-going source of clarity and unity in your organization. What about confidentiality? Our coaching and consulting staffs are highly professional people with high profiles in the coaching, consulting and educational communities. We are bonded and insured. We are very careful about our clients’ data and do not share any client data with any other source. Anything told to a coach is confidential and kept between the two parties. Proprietary company information is kept proprietary, and we are always delighted to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement. Please see our Privacy policy for more information.
What does coaching cost? Coaching costs vary, depending upon the level of coaching, paperwork required, tests to be employed and the method of contact. Individuals who desire face-to-face coaching will pay more than others and there are other various price schedules. Please call us for prices at 888-494-5144.
What do I look for in a coach? Of primary importance in any coaching relationship is rapport and professionalism. All of our coaches are professional. At a minimum, they have a Masters Degree and training in coaching. You should contact several of them and choose the one you feel most comfortable with. There is no sense choosing a coach with whom you feel you must be on your best behavior and careful. You want the coaching experience to be productive and fun.
How do I get started? Click on this link Sign Up and you will be taken to a Secure website, where you can safely give charge card information. We will have a coach call you to chat so that you can ask questions and see if there is a “fit.” If not, we will have another coach contact you for the same purpose, and so on until the fit is right! Your new coach and you will then set up a coaching schedule and get started right away.
Are there refunds? Refund policy: In the event a client and/or coach do not feel they are making progress, another coach may be substituted. If the client is still not making progress, or the coach determines that the coaching goals have been reached or that another professional such as consultant or therapist would be recommended, any unused portion of pre-paid funds will be refunded, after the initial month.
